One full day course at our studio. Students learn the art of ‘Kiln-formed’ glass (fusing and slumping). Guidelines are given on how to operate a glass kiln, including temperatures and trouble-shooting.

The course will cover technical issues such as how to prepare kilns, firing programs and glass compatibility. The aim of this course is to equip students with a solid foundation of technical understanding to enable you to continue working with this technique. You will cut and design your own selected mould which we will be fired for you. This course is suitable for beginners.
We will cover fusing (combining colours) and slumping (shaping glass into or over moulds to create flat and dimensional forms). You will be taught how to cut sheet glass, how to assemble the glass and how to fire it. We will explore the use of different metals with the glass, how to get colour using compatible frits, powders and stringers, we will also look at how to get unusual effect in the glass such as bubbles and metallic effects.
